Who We Are
A Workshop on Gongming Street Since 2011
Danshui Drains started as a one-person repair outfit and grew into a small team that handles home plumbing across Tamsui and the surrounding district. The work ethic hasn't changed.
Back to HomeHow Danshui Drains Came to Be
Lin Cheng-wei spent the better part of a decade working on commercial pipe installations before he decided the work he actually wanted to do was closer to home — literally. In 2011, he opened a small workshop on Gongming Street in Tamsui and began taking residential calls in the neighbourhood.
The early years were simple: a van, a toolbox, and a notebook for job records. What made those early clients come back was something less tangible than the quality of the seal — it was the habit of explaining things. Lin found that most people didn't want a plumber who disappeared under the sink and handed them a bill on the way out. They wanted to understand what had gone wrong and what had been done about it.
That habit became the foundation of the business. Today the team includes three trained technicians and a part-time scheduler who handles bookings. The workshop is still on Gongming Street, and the same plain-language approach is how every visit runs.
We work on domestic properties in Tamsui District and the nearby areas of New Taipei City. Apartment buildings, older row houses, and newer residential blocks all make up a regular part of the schedule. If your pipes are older, that's something we're familiar with.
Our Mission
To handle home plumbing clearly and without drama — arriving when we say we will, explaining what we find, confirming the cost before work begins, and leaving the space tidy. Nothing more complicated than that.
Our Values
- Steady and dependable — we do what we say and say what we mean
- Transparent about costs — agreed before any spanner comes out
- Respectful of the home — floor mats, tidy exits, zero mess left behind
- Plain language — no jargon, no trade shorthand, no mystery

The Team
Small enough that everyone knows the jobs. Experienced enough that most problems are familiar.
Lin Cheng-wei
Founder & Lead Technician
Over 22 years in pipe and plumbing work. Handles fixture installations, pressure issues, and the more involved pipe repairs. Based in Tamsui since birth.
Chen Hui-fen
Plumbing Technician
Specialises in drain clearing and trap work. Completed her plumbing certification in 2017 and has been with the team since 2019. Particularly efficient with apartment-block layouts.
Wu Kuo-ting
Technician & Van Operator
Handles leak checks, joint sealing, and tap replacements. Has a good feel for older pre-1990 pipe configurations common in the Tamsui riverside blocks.
Working Standards
These are the practices we hold to on every job — not aspirational statements, just how the work runs.
Licensed Practitioners
All technicians hold valid Republic of China plumbing practitioner licences. Current registrations are kept up to date with the New Taipei City Construction Management Office.
Safe Work Practices
Water isolation is confirmed before any joint or tap is opened. Work near electrical fittings follows standard safety separation. No shortcuts are taken near occupied living spaces.
Written Job Summary
Every visit ends with a short written note — what was found, what was done, what parts were used if any. The customer keeps a copy. It's useful if something related comes up later.
Fit-for-Purpose Materials
We carry standard fittings from established suppliers. If a job calls for something specific, we source it properly rather than using the nearest substitute. Fittings are not reused from other jobs.
Punctual Visits
A time window is agreed when the booking is confirmed. If we're running late by more than 20 minutes, we call. If a job runs long and affects the next appointment, we notify the next customer directly.
Tidy Exit Protocol
Before the technician leaves, the work area is dried and cleared. Packaging and old parts are taken away. Under-sink cabinets, if opened, are closed and checked. This is standard, not optional.
Plumbing Calls in Tamsui — What We've Learned
Residential plumbing in Tamsui has its own character. The older housing stock near the waterfront — particularly buildings put up in the 1970s and 1980s — tends to use galvanised pipe runs that have had thirty or forty years of mineral accumulation. Drain stacks in those buildings often share walls and require a methodical approach rather than a fast fix. We've worked on enough of them to know the common failure points.
Newer apartment blocks built after 2000 use different materials and layouts, but have their own issues — pressure regulators that weren't serviced after installation, flexible connections on water heaters that have aged, and basin trap configurations that weren't designed for the way the space ended up being used. Both types of building are part of our regular work.
The most common calls we receive are slow drains and dripping taps. Both are straightforward to address, and both get worse if left. A slow drain is rarely a self-correcting problem. A dripping tap wastes water steadily and often signals a worn washer or ceramic disc that's a short visit to resolve.
We don't offer emergency call-outs at three in the morning, and we don't claim to handle every conceivable plumbing situation. What we do is residential call-out work in a defined area, done consistently and explained clearly. For most home plumbing problems in Tamsui, that's what's needed.
